It has been quite a while since my last update. Some friends asked how is my blog doing, I’ve come to realized I’ve neglected my blog for ages, thus this post.
This was a makan outing was on 23rd July, Saturday at Kampung Bahru Balakong at Balakong. Fiona initiated the dinner after my dad helped her to fixed her car, what’s thought to be a major fix turned out to be a less-than 5 minute fix!
We arrived at Restoran Makanan Laut Hee Loy Fatt. The factory shoplot hosts to approx 50 tables or more, with most of the tables occupied when we reach there at almost 8pm. We were hungry, and ordered 4 dishes.
Fiona & Keci Meow
The first dish came, Stir Fried Vegetable with Salted Egg Yolk (apologies as my mind went blank, I forgot wat's it called, similar to Long Bean). Our first bite and we were addicted! Surely something different and we didn’t mind eating it with plain rice. The second dish took quite a while to reach and by the time it came, we have already polished off the vegetable.
Second dish, Claypot Prawn with Spicy Cucumber Soup came to our table. As fast as a thunder, the waiter brought an extra Stir Fried Vegetable with Salted Egg Yolk again. We did not hesitate, since we were addicted to it and it was like my prayers were answered, we took the extra vegetable again.
The Claypot Prawn soup has a pinch of black pepper, with cucumbers and salted vegetable in sight. While the soup tasted a lil’ spicy with sweetness from the cucumbers and prawn, somehow the prawns were a bit let down as it is rubbery.
The Butter Toufu came, it was nicely deep fried with its skin crispy on the outside. The toufu has bits of water chestnut inside making it fun to bite on!
Our last dish was the Ham Heong Pork Belly, the signature dish of the Restaurant. The dish was accompanied with Lady’s Finger, brinjal & chilies.
Overall, the Restaurant serves at an affordable price albeit the Prawn dish that costs a little extra. If you are looking for a good and yet affordable Chinese meal over the weekend, do visit this place as its service was good = fast serving dishes as this is the only place I know in Balakong. TOTAL DAMAGE for the night was RM 81.80 for the 4 of us.

A kept pet by the Restaurant owner, such huge tortoise!
Fiona brought us to The Mines next. There was a night market just beside and we decided to check it out. Most of the traders I observed either sell items from Thailand or second-hand items. Worth checking out if you’re an night owl, as they started to open up the stalls from 9pm onwards. We end the night having drinks by the lake at The Gasoline and got a lil' irked by the poor service.....
